          • Temporary Upper School Social Studies Teacher

            Dana Hall is seeking a temporary, experienced Upper School social studies teacher from January to June 2020.
             
            Teaching responsibilities will include 4 sections of social studies, covering the history of both the United States and of early western civilizations.
             
            The ideal candidate will possess most or all of these qualifications:
            • Experience teaching Upper School history or social studies
            • A post-secondary degree 
            • Commitment to academic vigor
            • Experience with and enthusiasm for incorporating non-western literature into a curriculum and teaching a diverse range of historical perspectives and texts
            • Experience in employing a variety of pedagogical approaches for different learning styles
            • Interest in using technology thoughtfully and creatively to enhance teaching and learning (Dana Hall School is a 1-1 iPad school)

          • Barn Maintenance Staff ( Part-Time )

            Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Barn Maintenance Staff.

            The individual in this position will be accountable for:

            • Contributing to the maintenance, health, and proper care of school and boarder horses
            • Feeding, watering, mucking, turning out and providing proper care of horses
            • Assisting with Equestrian Center facilities and grounds maintenance and upkeep to ensure a clean and safe environment
            • Assisting with veterinary visits. as needed
            • Assisting students with tacking, as needed
            • Assisting with longeing, as needed
            • Dragging rings, as needed
            • Operating dump truck, as needed
            • Completing additional duties assigned by the Director and Barn Manager

            Previous horse experience is preferred but not required.

            Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work independently with a demonstrated eagerness to understand all aspects of the operational matters of the barn. Physical requirements include an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, as well as an ability to lift, carry, and move 50 pounds repeatedly. Candidates must read, speak and understand English, as well as have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and an ability to drive a dump truck and tractor.

            This is a twelve-month, part-time position reporting to the Director of the Karen Stives ’68 Equestrian Center. Days and hours will vary.

          • Cook

            Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Cook. Dana Hall School is a boarding and day college preparatory school for girls grades 5 through 12. The 482 students come from 13 states and 15 countries. 
             
            The individual in this position will be accountable for:
            • Preparing and presenting a variety of hot and cold foods following standardized department recipes in quantities planned in advance using a variety of preparation methods.
            • Determining daily kitchen work load, making daily job assignments, and overseeing the work of all cooks and other kitchen personnel.
            • Evaluating, producing, coordinating, and executing catered events on campus, as needed.
            • Evaluating finished products to ensure quality, as well as addressing sub-quality production and presentation by analyzing problems and implementing solutions in collaboration with the Director of Dining Services and Sous Chef.
            • Working in all areas of the kitchen, as needed, but primarily in hot food production with a focus on serving the best quality product to our guests.
            • Utilizing inventory on a regular basis while communicating food and equipment needs to the Director of Dining Services, Sous Chef, and Receiver in order to ensure all products and supplies are ordered and scheduled for timely delivery for production needs.
            • Researching, developing, testing, and adjusting recipes for all production areas along with the Sous Chef.
            • Work with the Director of Dining Services, Sous Chef and Production Chef on the development of current and new staff.
            • Overall kitchen sanitation and food safety practices, keeping general workers on task, and assigning side work and equipment maintenance duties to kitchen personnel.
            • Implementing food safety guidelines and ensuring completion of service records.
            • Coordinating and expediting food preparation from the kitchen and action stations, while ensuring safe food handling and on-time production according to established procedures.
            • Planning and executing production and presentation for assigned meals, including designing and executing buffet presentation.
            • Overseeing kitchen operations in the absence of the Sous Chef and Production Chef.
            • Collaborating with the Director of Dining Services, Sous Chef, and culinary team to fulfill the culinary goals of the unit by facilitating the implementation of management initiatives in the kitchen and exceeding customer expectations.

          • Dining Service Attendant

            Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Dining Service Attendant. 

            The individual in this position will be accountable for:
            • Demonstrating a focus on customer service by anticipating needs and accommodating requests, as well as seeking to assist and accommodate customers to promote a pleasant dining experience
            • Consistently greeting, welcoming and interacting with customers in a warm and friendly manner to promote an atmosphere of hospitality
            • Prepping and stocking products for the current shift and next shift and proactively preparing for busy periods
            • Setting up and/or breaking down assigned food service stations in an efficient and sanitary manner
            • Preparing, assembling, and/or serving various foods and beverages in a professional manner
            • Coordinating and expediting food preparation from the kitchen and action stations, as well as ensuring safe food handling and on-time production according to established procedures
            • Planning and executing the production and presentation for assigned meals including designing and executing buffet presentation
            • Keeping assigned food service stations and storage areas properly cleaned, fresh and full
            • Brewing coffee, maintaining all beverage machines, toasters, panini machines and other equipment
            • Assisting the culinary staff with basic food service tasks such as light cooking and food preparation, garnishing, and food display
            • Ensuring that all products used are fresh and within the specific usage period
            • Communicating with management and cooks about the quality and quantity of products in service.
            • Being knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparation methods of the foods served, especially with regards to the presence of potential allergens
            • Evaluating, producing, coordinating, and executing catered events on campus, as needed
            • Delivering and providing table service and other related tasks for special events
            • Following overall kitchen sanitation and food safety practices
            • Assisting with ware washing, as assigned
            • Alerting dining team members of any outdated or spoiled products, those not at proper temperature, or products that do not appear appetizing
            • Performing general cleaning tasks in accordance with the accepted food service sanitation standards that are assigned as part of the daily housekeeping and sanitation schedules and accurately completing service records
            • Executing all other related duties, as assigned, including a variety of food service related tasks in support of dining operations based on daily and seasonal demand
             
            Candidates should have: a minimum of one year planning, preparing, and serving hot and cold foods for service; a demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision in a logical, efficient and productive manner; flexibility and willingness to learn and perform various tasks, as needed; a high school diploma or GED; the ability to read, speak, and understand English fluently; demonstrated basic math skills, including food service weights and measures and be able to read and understand receiving lists, packaging labels and vendor invoices; the ability to lift, carry, and move at least 30 lbs. repeatedly; tolerance for standing, walking, lifting, and performing repetitive physical tasks;; the ability to be a team player who is willing to be held accountable for the quality of products, for meeting tight deadlines, and for contributing to the success of all kitchen and other production; the ability to be customer-service focused with an ability to implement and maintain the goals of the operation and shift priorities when situations arise; ServSafe certification (preferred but, not required).  Candidates must enjoy a high degree of customer (internal, external) contact and have a friendly, and helpful attitude. All Dining Staff team members must be customer service focused and willing to provide the best service to all of our customers.
             
            This is a 12-month, full-time position reporting to the Director of Dining Services. A rotating schedule will frequently include nights and weekends with possible overtime based on business demands. All hours are subject to change, and may be adjusted to meet business demands.

            • Effectively using computer-based building control systems for heat/air conditioning, lights, and safety
             
             
            Candidates must have: a comprehensive knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating principals; experience as an HVAC Mechanic; working knowledge of all boiler systems (state-of-the-art and antiquated); experience with and understanding of MS Office suite and Google Apps; a high school diploma or GED; a Refrigeration Technician’s license is preferred.

            Candidates must have the ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs., as well as have tolerance for walking, lifting, shoveling, and performing various repetitive physical tasks. Candidates must have the ability to work independently or with a team, perform emergency tasks promptly and efficiently, and be customer-focused with a friendly and helpful attitude.  Candidates should be able to read, speak and understand English fluently.
             
            This is a 12-month, full-time position reporting to the Director of Facilities and Campus Safety. Hours are 7:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m.  All hours are subject to change and may be adjusted to meet campus needs.  Candidates must have the flexibility to work nights and weekends.

            Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Lifeguard (Part Time).  The individual in this position will be accountable for:
            • Ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals using and visiting the Shipley Center Pool
